LEWIS LENGTHENS LOYALTY

Macclesfield FC are delighted to have agreed terms with Lewis Fensome to retain the services of our Vice Captain!

As one of the Silkmen’s longest-serving players, recently breaking the Club’s all time appearances record and completing another astute season as a reliable defensive role model, Fensome has devoted his future to Macclesfield by signing an extension to his existing deal, which will see him remain at the Leasing.com Stadium for at least another season.

Lewis joined the Silkmen from Lancaster City in the January of 2022, mid-way through our inaugural season since reforming as Macclesfield FC in the North West Counties Premier Division, and has been a dependable Club stalwart ever since, providing reliable performances week in, week out, remaining an integral part of the match-day squads from day one through to the present day, making his record breaking 187th appearance at home to Chester in the Enterprise National League North play-off eliminator.

Finalising his fifth season in Silkmen colours, Fensome has been a valued and respected member of the dressing room by each Manager and group that he has played for and with respectively. His attitude has been exemplary from the day he joined Macclesfield and has grown to become a senior member of the squad, rewarded with the role of Vice Captain at the beginning of the most recent 2025/26 season.

Notching eight goals in 188 appearances from a defensive role has also been a very respectable return for the centre back by trade, often filling in at full back, though offering his services wherever required in the side as another versatile option, appreciated hugely by each management team with tenures during Fensome’s time at the Leasing.com Stadium, most recently by John Rooney.

Lewis has contributed significantly to each and every successful milestone in the Club’s history to date, including reaching his own various landmarks over what is currently the second longest stint of any player currently at Macclesfield FC, a shorter stay only than Brandon Lee. Fensome’s commitment to the cause came with celebration in the form of victory against Crystal Palace in the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup earlier in the year.

Fensome will continue on the Silkmen’s journey in to the 2026/27 season in the Enterprise National League North under Manager John Rooney, also retaining his authoritative role as Vice Captain.

We’d like to congratulate Lewis on receiving his new deal, thank him for his continued, admirable service to Macclesfield FC and wish him well for the 2026/27 season!
