Macclesfield FC continue to shine after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Morpeth Town.

Plenty of chances were showcased at the beginning of the first half when Luke Duffy’s cross was blocked, but not cleared, finding Elliott who could not poke the ball past the keeper.

One minute later, the Silkmen suffered their first scare of the match when Morpeth Town’s Luke James found himself through on goal, but his shot was off target at the near post.

After a couple of missed opportunities, Danny Elliott opened the scoring inside 15 minutes when Danny Whitehead’s shot was deflected towards the striker who guided the ball home.

In the 25th minute, Duffy played a beautiful cross, from a free kick, finding Paul Dawson at the back post who could not quite keep his header down as it raised over the bar.

The second half would continue to show some entertaining action as Duffy almost scored inside two minutes when a controlled volley was fired straight at the keeper.

It would not take long for Macclesfield to increase their lead as James Edmondson’s free kick strook the post, before D’Mani Mellor reacted quickly to snatch a goal on the rebound.

Elliott came close to scoring a brace with 20 minutes left to play after a shot inside the box would fire straight at the keeper.

Moments later, Tre Pemberton whipped in a cross from the right-hand side, once again finding Elliott who could only see his header go over the bar.

With 10 minutes left to play, Sean Etaluku almost made a goal contribution on his debut when he got in behind the defence, squaring the ball to Elliott who could not quite extend a three-goal cushion.

The Silkmen are still yet to be beaten in the Northern Premier League and are 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Macclesfield’s next game will be in the FA Trophy as they take a trip to the Tameside stadium to face Curzon Ashton on Saturday.
