Macclesfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of Jack Rogers on a one month loan from EFL League One side Wigan Athletic!
The 19-year-old joins the Silkmen ranks for the upcoming packed out festive period from the Latics, providing a versatile option as either a central midfielder or central defender, having played in both positions in the first few years of his career.
Rogers started out at Premier League side Burnley, where he initially progressed through the academy ranks, and eventually made Captain of the Clarets’ U18 side during his two year scholarship.
Jack was taken on by Wigan at the end of his deal, where he has since been a regular feature in their U21 side, taking the armband on more than one occasion before appearing in multiple pre-season fixtures last summer and eventually making his competitive debut for the First Team earlier this season in the Vertu Trophy against Salford City, when he caught the eye of Macclesfield Manager John Rooney.
Rogers has also been named on the bench for a number of Wigan’s EFL League One fixtures, but having not yet entered the action, he now joins the Silkmen to gain vital regular minutes during his short stint with the Club.
Upon securing his services, the Gaffer gave us a glimpse of what to expect from Jack “I’m delighted to have young Jack on board, he’s done really well at both Burnley and Wigan and he’ll be a great asset for us. We’re going to need the whole squad over Christmas and having an extra body in who can play in more than one position is brilliant. I’m also really grateful to Wigan for letting us take him on loan for a month. He’s a great lad so I’m sure he’ll fit in easily and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do for us”
Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish Jack a very warm welcome to the Leasing.com Stadium and wish him all the very best of luck during his time with the Silkmen.
Jack is eligible to feature in this evening’s Enterprise National League North fixture away at AFC Fylde and will wear the number 32 shirt for the Silkmen.
Welcome to Macclesfield, Jack!
