WOMENS FIRST TEAM CROWNED LEAGUE CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!

Yesterday our Womens First Team faced League winners Ellesmere Port Town FC in the league cup final after beating Stockport County Development in the semi-finals.

Macclesfield FC started quick with a goal from Amara Keating within just 24 seconds. Mallory Sears then made it two in the 12th minute from a stunning freekick looping over the GK. Grace then receives the ball out wide and delivers a dangerous ball into the box which was only cleared as far as Macclesfield’s Captain Charlotte Rowecliffe who hits it first time with the outside of her boot lifting the ball over the Ellesmere keeper to make it 3-0. Port pull one back in the 37th minute after some good work down the left to find Sampson who squared the ball to Hodgin who then finds Davies to fizz home left footed.

Heading into the second half Ellesmere Port get awarded a penalty in the 61st minute after a slight touch from Hannah Bluemel brings Sampson down, Ward steps up and makes it 3-2.

Macclesfield manage to hold on until the final whistle and were crowned champions of the Cheshire League Cup.
