MATCH PREVIEW: CLITHEROE V MACCLESFIELD

The Silkmen are back on the road this evening as Neil Danns’ side head across to Lancashire to take on Clitheroe in the Northern Premier League West Division.

A win open up an eight point lead at the top of the division, yet there can be no underestimating our hosts who currently lie seventh in the table.

Clitheroe have accumulated thirty-one points from their opening twenty-one games and come into the game on the back of a 1 – 0 home defeat at the hands of Skelmersdale United on 21st January.

TEAM NEWS

Marcelo Pitaluga continues his recovery from an ankle ligament injury and he represents the only known injury concern.

IMPORTANT DIRECTIONS

Fans are advised NOT to use the ground’s postcode in their satnavs.

The ground itself is the easiest ground to find in the league – except for the final 50 yards.

If coming from the M6, leave at Junction 31 and head 15 miles down the A59 towards Clitheroe.

If coming from the M60 and heading for the M66/A56 just make sure you ignore your satnav when about eight miles away at a major set of traffic lights.

Make sure you turn left through READ to get to the A59. If you follow your satnav, you will go over 2,000 ft Pendle Hill.

Whichever way you come, you will reach the first/only bit of dual carriageway on the A59 about three miles from the ground. After a mile, you will reach a roundabout with a McDonalds on it. Go over this roundabout. After half a mile, you will come to the first sign for the town centre down the A671 – go over this roundabout.

One mile later you will come to a roundabout with Clitheroe to the left and a Ski Slope signed to the right. Turn left here. You are now on Pendle Road, just under one mile from the ground.

Go down a couple of steep slopes and over two mini roundabouts. After the second roundabout, you are now 400 yards from the ground. Cars will by now be starting to park on either side. So should you. On the crest of the last bend, cars tend to stick two wheels on the pavement as the road narrows for 100 yards. There are also plenty of streets leading off Pendle Road with no restrictions and of course the main town centre car park is only 4 minutes walk away.

The ground itself is at the bottom of the final hill. With Lidl on your left hand side, the entrance to the ground is on the right. There will be stewards there guiding you up a narrow cobbled street. There will be at least three gates open. One gate at least will be ear marked for our 400 season ticket holders and for those who have purchased a ticket online.

CAR PARKING

Parking is VERY limited around the ground.

Street parking is available, but please do so respectfully at all times.

BAR / REFRESHMENT FACILITIES

There will be food and refreshment areas within the Stadium.

Please note, it is not permitted to bring alcohol into the ground nor to drink any alcoholic beverage from seated areas.
