NEIL DANNS DEPARTS TO JOIN LEAGUE 2 SIDE TRANMERE ROVERS AS ASSISTANT MANAGER

Macclesfield FC can confirm that First Team Head Coach Neil Danns has today departed the Club for pastures new at Tranmere Rovers, joining the League Two outfit in a coaching capacity on a full-time basis and a long term contract as assistant manager.

The Club would like to place its thanks on record to Neil for all he has done in his spell with the Silkmen, both on and off the field, playing an integral part in achieving back to back promotions in the Club’s first two seasons.

Dannzy and Duffs have played an enormous role in the Club’s success on and off the pitch for the entirety of its existence, for which Macclesfield FC is sincerely grateful and wishes Neil well with his new challenge.

The Club has reluctantly accepted Dannzy’s departure, though feel as if standing in his way would not be the correct action to take.

Current Assistant First Team Coach Mark Duffy remains committed to Macclesfield FC and will take over as First Team Head Coach for the 2023/24 season.

Director of Football Robbie Savage, has likewise expressed his gratitude:

“I would like to wish Neil all the best with the opportunity that has arisen at Tranmere, a Club he played 18 games for during his playing career, on a full time basis at the Football League Club.

We believe we have given Neil an amazing opportunity to kickstart his career in coaching at Macclesfield, already a side of sizeable stature in non-league, which he has handled impressively and bodes well for the future.

Dannzy is someone we would rather not lose, both as a player and Head Coach but ultimately, this was his decision. This coupled with Tranmere being a Club close to his heart, I can’t deny him the chance to be a part of it once again.

Naturally, we have plans in place in the event of something like this coming to fruition. Our current model we have implemented allows the transition to be seamless as Duffs who was very influential in the 23 game unbeaten run, takes over the reigns. Particularly as his existing, familiar role directing from the dugout whilst Dannzy’s playing contributions continued.

Regardless, I would like to thank Dannzy for everything he has done for us and wish him every success for years to come.”
