CAUGHT ON CAMERA: WIDNES (A)

The Silkmen started 2023 in style yesterday, as Neil Danns’ side struck four times at Widnes without reply.

After a very even first period, James Berry opened the scoring in the 53rd minute when he burst through the home defence before unleashing a venomous low drive past Cameron Terry in the Widnes goal.

Our lead was doubled eight minutes later, when Laurent Mendy’s long ball was seized upon by Berry and he emphatically found the back of the net with a mesmerising strike.

Alex Curran then added a third in the 64th minute, before Berry claimed his hat-trick right on the stroke of full-time with another clinical finish.
